For 500 years it has had a lot to offer to the visitor. Our walk begins with the Royal Palace, official residence of the kings of Spain, continuing through the Plaza Mayor, the Mercado de San Miguel and the Puerta del Sol.
A few minutes later we meet the lions of the Congress who, oblivious to what goes on inside, watch the passers-by, and with the fountains of Neptune and Cybele, a gift from King Carlos III, next to the Paseo del Prado. It is here where we find the three great museums of the city, El Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofía. Each with its own personality, all three are a mandatory visit for art lovers.
The Paseo del Prado is immediately transformed into the Castellana, with its skyscrapers that give shape to a modern Madrid, while soccer lovers have an obligatory stop at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Finally, nothing defines Madrid better than its Retiro Park, with its gardens, its pond and its boat trips.
